Description

Strategically supports the Companys commercial business, dispute resolution and litigation strategy. Interprets and prepares legal documents and discovery, reviews Company policies, monitors and ensures legal compliance, oversees outside litigation counsel and advises management on legal matters to guard against legal liability while reaching business objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with, and provides legal advice to, in-house counsel, senior business leaders and members of sales and marketing departments in developing and implementing policies, procedures and proactive strategies relating to commercial business, risk and growth strategies.
  • Handles or assists in all aspects of Company litigation, including strategy, court proceedings (including federal and state court appearances), arbitrations, mediations, depositions, discovery, case preparation, tracking and communication of case-related dates and information and the review and preparation of documents, reports and correspondence.
  • Supervises outside counsel and litigation consultants and manages legal budgets.
  • Advises executives and senior management on strength of claims and defenses, dispute avoidance, mitigation of risk and resolution strategy.
  • Conducts research, prepares legal memoranda and provides legal advice on array of matters, with primary focus on contract (i.e., distribution, sales, development, consulting, employment), product liability, fair competition (non-complete, non-solicit), and labor and employment matters.
  • Influences and advises on high-level company strategic decisions.
  • Assesses potential legal risks, benefits and consequences and provides practical legal counsel and develops creative alternative solutions to achieve corporate objectives an, directives.
  • Builds credibility and trust with internal and external clients, vendors, stakeholders and colleagues.
  • Acts with integrity, upholding strong business and ethical standards.
  • Provides general legal advice and assistance in legal matters as appropriate and as directed.

Requirements:

  • Broad knowledge of local, state and federal civil procedures, discovery, filing deadlines, legal techniques and basic concepts of American jurisprudence.
  • Broad knowledge of commercial disputes, with experience in setting case strategy, managing discovery process, mediation/arbitration and trials, with a focus on contract, product liability, fair competition, labor and employment matters.
  • Highly developed written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Proactive and reactive.
  • An inspirational, motivated, tenacious and gritty litigator whose attitude and work style demonstrates the desire to uphold, through combined effort and/or individual passion, the Companys stated mission, vision and values.

Education and Experience

  • J.D. from a recognized, accredited US law school.
  • A member of the bar in good standing, although it is not necessary to be admitted in California.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of law firm or in-house experience performing and/or managing relevant and directly related responsibilities.

For roles based in the United States that require access to hospital facilities, must be eligible for and maintain credentials at all required hospitals, including meeting any applicable physical requirements or vaccination requirements (including the COVID-19 vaccine, as applicable).

Salary Range

Alphatec Spine, Inc. complies with state and federal wage and hour laws and compensation depends upon candidates qualifications, education, skill set, years of experience, and internal equity. $170,000 to $190,000 Full-Time Annual Salary
