Deputy General Counsel

Austin, TX Hybrid Full Time

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy General Counsel to join our legal team. The Deputy General Counsel will work closely with the legal department to provide comprehensive legal support to SAM. The successful candidate will have a strong background in corporate law, contract negotiation, regulatory compliance, and litigation management.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Assist the General Counsel in overseeing all legal matters affecting the organization.

Provide legal advice and guidance to various departments within the company on a wide range of legal issues.

Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents.

Help manage and oversee litigation matters, including working with external counsel as needed.

Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.

Conduct legal research and analysis on complex legal issues.

Assist in the development and implementation of legal strategies and policies.

Assist with intellectual property matters, including trademarks, copyrights, and patents.

Manage and mentor other members of the legal team.

Represent the company in negotiations, mediations, and other legal proceedings.

What You Bring to SAM

JD degree from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing with the bar association.

5+ years of experience practicing law, preferably with a focus on corporate law, commercial transactions, and/or litigation.

Strong understanding of contract law, corporate governance, and regulatory compliance.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Experience managing and mentoring junior attorneys is a plus.

Prior in-house experience preferred but not required.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion in sensitive matters.
