This position will provide legal services to support one or more specific business units in the organization, with the purpose of maintaining a balance between effective risk management and developing solutions to support the Companys initiatives and commercial operations. Main responsibilities will include advising on legal issues involving commercial contracts; laws and regulations; and; dispute resolution, arbitration, and litigation. Areas of focus would include reviewing, drafting, and negotiating various agreements with customer and suppliers; providing guidance related dispute resolution, arbitration, and litigation; and, managing outside counsel. The candidate must be capable of developing and/or utilizing a broad legal skillset to provide guidance across many areas of law.

Basic Requirements:

  • Practical knowledge, skills, and abilities acquired through a minimum of 3 or more years of relevant experience as a licensed practicing attorney.
  • J.D. degree from a top ABA-accredited law school and state bar membership in good standing.
  • Strong drafting and presentation skills,
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills (both oral and written).
  • Able to travel domestically and internationally.
  • Self-directed with a high degree of attention to detail, ability to multi-task and prioritize.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Commercial transactions experience.
  • Litigation experience.
  • General knowledge of construction law and/or product liability.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Manage disputes with the support of outside counsel, including through litigation, arbitration, mediation or settlement negotiations, seeking outcomes on acceptable terms whenever possible.
  • Conduct legal research and draft and review motions and pleadings for proceedings.
  • Lead discovery processes and depositions.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements including procurement, supply, distribution, services, and sales.
  • Provide education and training on legal matters to internal business units
  • Manage external lawyers.
  • Gain and maintain comprehensive knowledge of the companys business to contribute to the commercial objectives of the business from a legal standpoint.
