Real Estate Counsel – One of the DMV’s Largest, Well-Established Developer

G&S has been exclusively engaged by one of the DC area’s largest real estate developers with 50+ years of stability and growth in this region to recruit an accomplished real estate attorney. Our client provides services in all facets of the development process, including design and construction, project management, land planning and zoning, accounting, property management, leasing, and project finance. This is a newly created role reporting directly to the Chief Legal Officer.

Overview of Role: At our client’s headquarters in Northern Virginia, you will work alongside the Corporate and Retail Leasing legal departments. You will provide advice, draft transactional documents and assist with the management of their office, retail, industrial, residential, and mixed-use portfolios. Specifically, you will:

  • Handle the development, operation, management, marketing, acquisitions and divestitures of the Company’s properties.
  • Prepare and negotiate retail leases within retail shopping centers and mixed-use projects, office and industrial leases, service and purchase agreements, and special event licenses.
  • Draft commercial contracts, community declarations, and easement agreements; review title and survey; and advise on lease disputes (i.e., collections, bankruptcy, and CAM and real estate tax disputes) as needed.

Qualifications: Candidates should have 2+ years of varied real estate experience in acquisition/sales, development, financing, leasing (office and/or retail), management agreements, construction contracts, Master POAs, REAs, and title and survey work.
