Location: Harrisburg

Telework: This position will report to the headquartered location a minimum of 2 days per week. You may have the opportunity to telework the remainder of the week, if desired and based on business need.

Work Hours: 8:30 5:00

Salary Range: DAG I: Pay Range 8 Starting salary of $64,431

DAG II: Pay Range 9 Starting salary of $73,722

Basic Function


The Civil Rights Enforcement Section (CRES) works to protect and advance the civil rights of Pennsylvanians through enforcement and outreach. CRES addresses systemic or otherwise significant discrimination matters in the areas of employment; housing, commercial property, and related financing; public accommodations (including educational institutions); and other aspects of life. The section also has authority to obtain civil injunctions against continuing acts of ethnic intimidation, in consultation with the local district attorney. The Deputy Attorney General will handle noncomplex matters independently with routine supervision and more complex and difficult matters in collaboration with the Section Chief.



  • Works with civil investigators to guide factual investigations
  • Conducts legal research related to potential and pending investigations and litigation
  • Develops recommendations concerning initiating and participating in legal actions
  • Prepares and litigates cases before the Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission, other agencies, and state and federal courts
  • Reviews amicus curiae briefs, agency comments, and other materials
  • Assists the Section Chief in establishing and maintaining relationships with other governmental and nongovernmental stakeholders
  • Participates in public outreach activities
  • Performs additional and related work as required


Deputy Attorney General I:

  • Graduation from an accredited school of law and admission to the Bar of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania

Deputy Attorney General II:

  • Graduation from an accredited school of law, admission to the Bar of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, and a minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in professional legal work
