Staff Attorney - Housing and Consumer Law Unit

Job Summary:
The Attorney will provide legal representation to low and middle-income litigants in Rochester City Court, Supreme Court, County Court, and Federal Bankruptcy Court. Legal services will be provided in housing and consumer law cases and other matters in Monroe, Ontario, and surrounding counties with a focus on foreclosure and eviction prevention. The Attorney will be part of a team of professionals who have dedicated themselves to the mission of LASROC, which is the provision of high-quality civil legal services to low- and moderate-income litigants. Services include direct representation, legal counseling, community outreach, education, and training
Qualifications:

Juris Doctor(Candidates who are Admitted to NYS Bar; and Candidates who have received their JD and qualify for a judicial practice order are also invited to apply)
- High level of initiative, self-motivation, and organization
- Excellent legal research and writing skills
- Strongnegotiating ability
- Ability to articulate thoughts and ideas efficiently and accurately
- Respectful and empathetic consideration for clients
- Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and community partners
- Access to reliabletransportation
- Bilingual capabilities are highly desired
