Sentry Insurance has an opportunity within its Corporate Legal Department for an Associate Counsel. The position requires a minimum of 3 years of experience in one or more of the following areas:
• Human Resources/Labor and Employment
• Employee Benefits/ERISA
• Safety/Health/Facilities
• Physical Security
• Social Media
• Investigations
The specialized experience can be in private practice or in a corporate legal department.

This role will work out of our Stevens Point, WI office (Hybrid)
What You'll Do:
Provide legal advice and counsel to management, including direct interaction with senior executives, in areas of legal specialization and in general legal matters to assist in addressing a wide range of legal and business issues
Ensure efficient and quality legal advice and counsel is provided through written or verbal communication
Interact with policyholders, employees, agents, agencies, vendors, and other business contacts as necessary
Represent the Company, or select and supervise outside counsel in the representation of the Company, in contested matters arising in courts, in administrative agencies, and before regulatory bodies across the U.S. and in other countries in which the Company has interests
Manage and control expenses to contribute to the overall goals of the Corporate Legal Department
Draft documents, agreements, contracts, and other materials requiring specific legal expertise
Plan strategies for solving various legal and business problems, including litigation strategy, and has the primary responsibility for providing legal advice on these matters to management
Assist management in developing operational strategies and solutions relating to corporate policy
Review and analyze enacted and proposed state and federal laws and regulations that affect the Company, and advise on the implications of such laws, regulations, and draft legislation
Work on projects assigned by the Chief Legal & Compliance Officer which involve research and recommendations on matters having Company-wide significance
Develop and maintain professional contacts with other companies' legal departments and with members of local, state, and national bar groups Represent the Company in industry groups as assigned
What it Takes:
A minimum of 3 years of overall legal experience
Strong academic background and a Juris Doctor degree from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association License to practice law
Proven ability to interact effectively with a variety of people
Expertise in a specific area of law utilized in work experience with a law firm, an insurance company, or a corporation
