We are conducting an exclusive search for a large California energy company with growing carbon management/sequestration business who is looking to hire an in-house attorney for its Los Angeles County office.

Position would cover a broad array of corporate, transactional, regulatory,and litigation matters. Attorney would work directly with business and operational leaders on a wide range of commercial areas.

Attorney with significant transactional (or potentially regulatory) law firm training and experience preferred.

Compensation includes a competitive base salary, bonus, stock and retirement contributions.

Partially remote work schedule.

Position:

• Senior Counsel, Managing Counsel or Assistant General Counsel (depending on experience) providing transactional and regulatory legal support to the Company.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide energy-related transactional, operational and regulatory support in connection with California upstream and carbon management businesses.
• Provide some Federal and State litigation management support, including in connection with matters before regulatory agencies in California.
• Provide support in connection with regulatory and compliance.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 6 years solid corporate, commercial or regulatory experience (from top-tier large law firm) that will allow attorney to work directly and independently with commercial/operational leaders.
• Experience in leading transactions and dealing directly with clients.

• Excellent academic credentials.
• Stable work history required.

• Excellent interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to work with senior commercial/operations managers.
• Ability to coordinate issues with other business functions.

• California regulatory experience a plus.
• Willingness to learn new subject areas outside of prior experience.
