POSITION SUMMARY

The Executive Director of Legal Operations serves as a leader of the global law departments operations team and is a roll-up-your-sleeves role that prizes initiative, problem solving, and collaboration. The role supports the global law department and champions the overall operational effectiveness of the legal team, and coordinates with the other members of the legal leadership team to ensure the departments objectives are realized. In support of those objectives, the roles primary accountabilities are to oversee:

  • change management and continuous improvement of internal legal service delivery through innovations in process, analytics, and technology through identifying and implementing technology solutions to streamline and automate processes;
  • enhancing NCR Voyixs legal value chain through a comprehensive external legal vendor management program that includes all legal service providers;
  • optimization of the departments internal and external labor resources through coordinated planning with the General Counsel and senior law leaders regarding the mix and use of law firms, alternative providers, and temporary resources; and
  • managing all aspects of NCR Voyixs law firm vendor invoice platform and work closely with the Finance Department to manage accruals and invoice flow.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

The Executive Director of Global Legal Operations must have direct knowledge of and be a part of a multi-disciplinary team responsible for:

  • Change Management: foster a sense of urgency and build a coalition of stakeholders in leading legal operations change initiatives inside the law department, in the enterprise at large, and throughout NCR Voyixs legal supply chain;
  • Strategic Planning: in collaboration with senior lawyers, create and recommend new objectives benefitting the department and optimal operations, as well as course corrections and/or maintenance on existing programs;
  • Technology: ensure company-wide tools are being fully utilized by the Law Department. Research, vet, implement, integrate, maintain, and optimize legal-specific toolsets from e-billing to artificial intelligence; and
  • External Resource Management: optimize the legal value chain. Manage the external resource management program integrating the departments internal workflows with managed services, vendors, and law firms.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelors Degree required; Finance or Accounting background is a plus
  • 10+ years experience in operations, the legal market, or working with legal services
  • 5+ years experience in legal operations
  • Proven track record of making an impact, developing and executing on strategies and delivering superior results in both the short and long term
  • Familiarity with Counsellink
  • Understanding of law firm or other similar professional services billing and pricing, and experience with alternative fee arrangements
  • Understanding of litigation/transaction matter lifecycles
  • Attention to detail with excellent time management and multitasking/prioritization abilities
  • Technology-savvy, with proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications, especially Word and Excel expertise with eBilling software (WK Passport, preferred)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; comfortable dealing with all levels of our organization
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with strong ability to communicate concisely with a wide variety of audiences, including senior management and key external stakeholders, and proven ability to engage, influence and align stakeholders
  • Ability to create high quality presentation materials
  • Consummate team player with excellent judgment
