Job Purpose
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Manager of General Counsel (GC) Operations with a strong focus on technology, process automation, and finance to join our team. In the position, you will be responsible for streamlining and optimizing our legal processes, implementing technology solutions, and managing financial aspects within the legal department. Your expertise in legal operations, technology, and finance will play a crucial role in enhancing efficiency and ensuring compliance within our organization.
Key Accountabilities
Manage Processes, Systems & Technology:
Lead and manage the US legal operations function, focusing on technology, process automation, and finance.
Collaborate with legal team members and GC Operations colleagues to assess current processes and identify areas for improvement and automation.
Evaluate, develop, and implement technology solutions to streamline legal operations, including matter management, contract automation system, e-billing platforms, and other legal tools.
Oversee the implementation and integration of technology solutions, ensuring proper training and support for key stakeholders.
Identify opportunities for process automation including Generative AI for activities such as document drafting and summarizing, legal research, and data analysis, to improve efficiency and reduce manual workload.
Collaborate with IT and finance departments to align legal technology initiatives with overall organizational goals and objectives.
Stay updated on the latest legal technology trends and best practices and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
Foster strong relationships with external vendors and service providers, ensuring effective partnerships and cost-effective solutions. Liaise with external legal providers on billing, rate card and other issues.
Support Director of General Counsel Operations with ad hoc requests including performance and process management, communications and engagement and other strategic initiatives.
Data Analytics & Reporting:
Manage the financial aspects of the legal department, including budgeting, forecasting, and delivery against efficiency targets.
Develop and maintain financial reports and metrics to monitor legal department performance and identify cost-saving opportunities.
Ensure compliance with financial policies, procedures, and regulations.
Communications & Engagement:
Plan and execute annual US Legal offsite including agenda, speakers, logistics, etc.
Support US General Counsels with quarterly all hands calls and monthly leadership calls including developing agendas, content, meeting notes and action items.
Leadership:
Manage a team of 5 legal assistants and analysts
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Law, Business, Finance, or a related field.
Proven experience as a Legal Operations Manager or in a similar role, with a focus on technology and finance. In-depth knowledge of legal tech solutions and a keen interest in Generative AI.
Experience managing financial aspects within a legal department, including budgeting, forecasting, and efficiency delivery.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify process improvement opportunities and implement effective solutions.
Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate and build relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
Familiarity with legal compliance and regulatory requirements is preferred.

Downstate NY: $168K- $198K a year
New England: $157K- $185K a year
Upstate NY: $140K- $165K a year
This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills. Candidates will be assessed and provided offers against the minimum qualifications of this role and their individual experience.
