The Wyoming Attorney General's Office is seeking a qualified attorney who wants to be part of our office and serve as a member of our Consumer Protection and Antitrust Unit in the Human Services Division. The Attorney General's Office provides attorneys an opportunity to develop expertise, receive great mentorship, excel at and utilize their skills in a dynamic and collegial work environment while maintaining a healthy work-life balance.

This position represents the State of Wyoming in state and federal court on matters concerning violations of state and federal antitrust and consumer protection laws, including some of the most important legal issues of the day. In addition, this position assists with the State of Wyoming's compliance with the Master Settlement Agreement with Tobacco manufacturers. This position involves general enforcement of the Wyoming Consumer Protection Act, educating Wyoming consumers on common scams and how best to protect themselves, and consulting with the section supervisor and division deputy on strategic legal decisions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed at the job level.

  • Provide professional legal representation for the State of Wyoming as part of the Consumer Protection and Antitrust Unit, including enforcement of the Wyoming Consumer Protection Act and other state and federal antitrust and consumer protection laws;
  • Review incoming consumer complaints and other communications for potential violations of the Wyoming Consumer Protection Act;
  • Provide legal services required by the Master Settlement Agreement with tobacco manufacturers, including Non-Participating Manufacturing (NPM) enforcement actions, tracking compliance by conforming NPMs;
  • Conduct legal research, draft pleadings, respond to motions, present arguments in court, and handle appellate work as necessary;
  • Present legal advice in various formats, including legal documents, oral presentations, and formal and informal legal opinions; and
  • Advise agency clients with respect to relevant statutes and administrative procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


Education:
Juris doctorate.

  • Salary will be commensurate with relevant legal experience.
