DEPUTY ATTORNEY I (Legal Department): Reviews, processes, and advises on legal matters for Beaufort County. Duties include drafting various legal documents, prosecuting animal control and code enforcement cases, monitoring case workflow, assisting outside counsel on litigation, and representing the County on litigation handled in-house.




Qualifications:
Requires a Juris Doctor degree, five (5) years of related work experience: or the equivalent combination of education and experience
South Carolina Law License
Must have knowledge of legal processes and procedures, general policies of Beaufort County and related state laws, drafting legal documents and computer and related software applications
Must be skilled in assembling and organizing data and information, providing customer service, and using a computer and related software applications
Must have the ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing, interact with coworkers, supervisor, attorneys, other courts and agencies, elected officials, and the general public, follow procedures, and prioritize and organize workAll applicants tentatively selected for a position with Beaufort County Council will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for the illegal use of drugs and to a background check prior to appointment. Employment is contingent upon clearing both the drug screening and background investigation. Beaufort County is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
