Job Description

TOMRA Collection is looking to fill the position of Corporate Counsel. This is a hybrid role where you will be required to work in the Shelton, CT headquarters three (3) days per week. Collection sells and services Reverse Vending Machines as well as operates processing facilities and bottle redemption centers in the Northeast. The company also partners with various beverage distributors, and has various customers in the retail, institutional and commercial businesses segments. This position is a generalist role which reports to and works closely with the General Counsel, and will be involved in a wide range of legal matters in support of TOMRAs North American Collection enterprise.

Role and Responsibilities, include but are not limited to:

  • Structure, draft, review and negotiate different types of commercial contracts and agreements, which include, but are not limited to, 3rd party vendor agreements, services agreements, consulting agreements, purchase agreements, etc.
  • Assist in management of real estate portfolio
  • Assist General Counsel with compliance and privacy issues
  • Assist with corporate governance
  • Provide legal counsel to TOMRAs personnel with the goal of achieving business objectives while minimizing legal and commercial risks.
  • Assist with labor and employment issues
  • Research, advise, review, and oversee contractual matters, risk management, mitigation strategies, compliance, and policy
  • Proactively collaborate with individuals throughout the organization, from entry level up through the senior leadership
  • Provide legal advice and assistance for developing both internal and external trainings and policies
  • Take part in developing an improving best practices and policies to protect TOMRA from liability
  • Manage and coordinate with outside counsel on litigation matters
  • Mentor Legal Interns and assist in overseeing and directing their work
  • General support of the legal department
  • Foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the legal department.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate (B.A or B.S) and Law (Juris Doctorate (JD)) degrees from an accredited law school and admission in, and good standing to, a state bar. NY and/or CT bars preferred
  • Minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 1+ years experience in an in-house legal department required
  • Must have verifiable experience reviewing and drafting contracts
  • Previous experience and/or familiarity with US state privacy laws and operationalizing those laws within a company setting
  • Ability to adapt work style in order to best collaborate across all levels of an organization from entry level to executive employees
  • Business oriented, practical-minded, possessing emotional intelligence
  • Analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, and the ability to solve problems proactively and with business acumen
  • Consistent attention to detail and the ability to effectively prioritize and timely produce high quality work product is essential
  • Willing to see a project through on tight deadlines
  • A team player with an open and positive personality who is willing to share and communicate information effectively while maintaining high levels of integrity, confidentiality, and discretion
