Job description:

Provide day-to-day guidance and advice to Human Resources, the Office of the General Counsel, and the business teams with respect to employment, ethics and litigation issues. This role will support senior members of the Employment, Ethics and Litigation team to provide high quality, business-minded, timely and practical legal counsel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide employment-related legal advice and counsel to the Company's Human Resources professionals and internal business clients on a broad range of employment law issues spanning the entire employee life-cycle; from recruiting to terminations and discipline, performance management, reductions in force, leaves of absence and reasonable accommodations, drug testing and background checks, wage and hour considerations, etc.

  • Manage investigative matters raised through the company’s SpeakUp tool, including concerns involving conflicts of interest, ethics, misconduct, harassment, and discrimination claims, and recommend remedial actions and outcomes to internal business and senior management.

  • Investigate and respond to EEOC, state, and local agency employment-related claims.

  • Conduct mediations at the EEOC level.

  • Review and draft various employment-related documents, including settlement agreements, separation and non-competition agreements, demand letters, and responses to the same.

  • Provide updates with respect to the most recent developments in employment laws and ensure internal policies and procedures are updated accordingly.

Required Skills:

  • JD degree from an accredited law school

  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in employment either in a large law firm, a corporate legal department, or a combination thereof

  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment with a demonstrated ability to juggle multiple priorities simultaneously

  • Strong substantive experience in Title VII, ADA, ADEA/OWBPA, FLSA, WARN, FMLA, and state/local corollaries

  • Experience litigating employment matters in state and federal courts
