As a key member of our legal and claim department, you will provide strategic legal advice and support to ensure adequate representation of our insured, compliance, risk management, and effective legal solutions within the dynamic landscape of commercial claim operations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Legal Guidance and Compliance:

  • Provide advice and guidance to claim staff and management on policy interpretation, coverage analysis, and other legal matters.
  • May direct claim advocates and managers to refer matters to outside counsel.
  • Will be a key member of claim legal strategy and will roundtable litigated matters with claim advocates and claim managers.
  • Offer proactive legal counsel on regulatory compliance.
  • Develop and implement legal and compliance strategies, policies, and procedures to mitigate legal risks and expense.

Litigation Management:

  • May manage and oversee litigation matters, working closely with external counsel when necessary.
  • Conduct investigations and assessments regarding potential legal risks and disputes, providing recommendations and resolutions.

Training and Education:

  • Provide training and educational sessions to internal stakeholders, ensuring awareness and understanding of legal implications in their roles and operations.

Policy Development and Implementation:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop, update, and implement policies and procedures in accordance with legal and regulatory changes.

Risk Assessment and Mitigation:

  • Conduct risk assessments and develop strategies to minimize legal exposure and ensure proactive risk management across the organization.

Contracts and Negotiations:

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of agreements, including vendor contracts, leases, employment agreements, and partnership arrangements.
  • Ensure contractual agreements align with legal requirements and protect the organization's interests.
  • Collaborate with outside counsel on a variety ofmatters.

Qualifications:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience practicing law with insurance experience.
  • Proven experience in contract negotiation, drafting, and review.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Must be able to travel to field offices and have a valid drivers license. (Up to 30% travel)

EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree and active Bar membership in good standing.
