Overview: The General Counsel (GC) serves as the organization's chief legal advisor, reporting directly to the CEO and overseeing the legal department. The GC plays a crucial strategic role in providing guidance and counsel to TNTP's senior leadership, particularly in areas of legal and reputational risk. The General Counsel will oversee the operations of the legal department, focusing on contracts, compliance, risk management, 501(c)(3) governance, insurance, finance, real estate, grants, copyright, data privacy and security, licensing agreements, employment matters, and overall advisement to the organization.

Experience: TNTP seeks a strategic legal and people leader with 10+ years of experience in a U.S. law firm, government agency, or an in-house legal position. The ideal candidate for the General Counsel should have a deep understanding of legal responsibilities and constraints of not-for-profit organizations and evidence of a strong commitment to non-profit and education issues.

Compensation: $200k base, 9% target bonus, and excellent benefits.
