JOB SUMMARY
As a member of the Piedmont Legal Department, provide advice and counsel to all Piedmont hospitals, clinics, joint ventures, and other healthcare companies. Provide legal advice in areas including physician arrangements, vendor contracting, mergers and acquisitions, and litigation management. Particular emphasis on cybersecurity, telehealth, and IT vendor contracting. Review and advise on the development and implementation of internal policies and procedures. Assist with the coordination and management of outside counsel resources.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Review, draft, interpret and advise on contracts and other types of legal and transactional documents, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and mitigating risk.
2. Provide research and other legal support to business units; draft legal summaries and other documents related to legal issues and transactions.
3. Provide due diligence review and support in connection with transactional matters such as acquisitions, financings and regulatory filings.
4. Assist in coordinating legal support to all departments and entities to ensure that adequate legal assistance is available.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND LICENSURE
JD Degree from accredited law school and admission to State Bar (Georgia State Bar preferred).
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Five (5) years of professional legal experience, including experience as an in-house counsel with a hospital and/or with a major law firm dealing with health care contracting and other legal and compliance issues. Conversant in all statutes and regulations applicable to non-profit healthcare systems.
